Eva was born and raised in the Rheinland in Western Germany as a daughter of the high-school director. Eva was taught Latin, English, and French in early childhood. She later started learning Italian too – just for fun. Eva states, that she is convinced that it is very important to be exposed early in life to foreign languages, but – even more excitingly – to get acquainted with different cultures, philosophies, and ways of life.
Eva attended medical school and anesthesiologic residency at the Medical University Goettingen. After graduation as an Anesthesiologist and finishing her PhD, Eva worked as an attending anesthesiologist for more than 35 years. This position always included teaching and educational activities with students, nurses, and younger colleagues. Eva states that she always found it very rewarding to work with those younger folks and having fun with the adventures of finding treasures of knowledge…
Eva married a colleague and has two sons who are also very keen on learning. The boys both have their PhD in Physics. Eva followed her husband to Charleston when he became professor at MUSC in Charleston. Eva has enjoyed learning about the Southern Life in this country. She is still excited about learning new stuff, but especially sharing experience and knowledge with those interested.
